Conference Presentation at SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics 2023:

“Development of an ultrathin liquid leaf target system for deuteron acceleration at 10 Hz repetition rate”

Date: 08.06.2023

Our team co-authored the recent conference presentation “Development of an ultrathin liquid leaf target system for deuteron acceleration at 10 Hz repetition rate”, presented at SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics 2023 (Prague, Czech Republic, 24- 27 April 2023).

The presentation highlights the development and characterization of an ultrathin, self-regenerating liquid target formed by colliding two micron-scale liquid jets. The resulting liquid sheet reaches thicknesses below 200 nm and remains stable under high-vacuum conditions while operating at repetition rates up to 10 Hz. Experimental results demonstrate this target’s suitability for laser-driven deuteron acceleration using high-intensity laser systems.

The presented target concept addresses key limitations of conventional solid targets and provides a scalable solution for high-repetition-rate laser–plasma experiments, enabling improved data acquisition and long-term operational stability.
